 Monday Day 02 YANGON -BAGAN (B/L/D)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Yangon Airport for domestic flight to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan, transfer to hotel and proceed on a sightseeing tour, starting with the busy local market. Continue with visits to a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century, Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes, Khay Min Ga Templ, noted for its spectacular panoramic view of many area monuments and Ananda Temple with its four huge standing-Buddha images and numerous seated figures that are arranged around an interior gallery. Lunch at Sunset Garden Restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit to a lacquer craftsman’s workshop in nearby Myingaba Village. Sightseeing continues with visits to Manuha Temple, built in mon style in 1059, Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument that is said to have been the palace of King Manuha, and Myingaba Gu Byauk Gyi (under the protection of UNESCO), noted for its ancient mural paintings. Tuesday Day 03          BAGAN – MANDALAY – AMARAPURA – SAGAING (B/L/D)
 
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for domestic flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival at Mandalay Airport proceed directly to Amarapura. Visit Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery, where more than a thousand monks live and study. Then continue to the 150-year-old U Bein teak bridge, built in 1851 at the time when Amarapura was the royal capital. Proceed to Sagaing Hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees, to enjoy a magnificent view over the surrounding area. Lunch at Amarapura Restaurant.
An afternoon of comprehensive sightseeing in Mandalay includes Mahamuni Pagoda with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves, a visit to a craftsman’s workshop to see Kalaga tapestries being created, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung (or Golden

Optional morning program: Diethelm Travel is offering a unique opportunity to see the ancient city of Bagan from a different perspective. With ‘Balloons Over Bagan’ you get a magnificent birds-eye view of thousand year-old pagodas, temples and the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. The champagne flights at sunrise last just under one hour and take off daily from October through March. The balloon is guided by gentle winds not exceeding 24 km/h. Our prices are subject to change in case of increases in airfares, ground transportation costs (fuel), entrance fees, etc.

Services included:

  • All sightseeing tour and transfer services with private air conditioned car/coach as detailed in our itinerary.
  • Accommodation with breakfast at hotels as specified.
  • Meals on table d’hôte basis as specified in the itinerary (full board throughout the tour starting with dinner on Day 1 and terminating with breakfast on Day 8).
  • All entrance fees for the places as mentioned in the program.
  • All domestic airfares (Yangon-Bagan-Mandalay-Heho-Yangon) with Air Mandalay, Air Bagan and/or Yangon Airways.
  • Transfers and tours with English-speaking locally stationed guides (or) the same English, English-German or English-French speaking local guide throughout (depending on the selected price option).
  • Boat trips as specified.
  • Insurance surcharge on Domestic Airlines in Myanmar.
  • Service charges, room tax and baggage handling.
  • One (1) tour leader FOC in single room for every 15 full-paying participants.

  • Travel insurance (cover against all cancellation costs, medical expenses, including repatriation, in the event of accident or illness).
  • The presently applicable economy class airfare of Bangkok-Yangon-Bangkok is USD 310.- nett per ticket.  This fare is subject to change without prior notice.

PASSPORT AND VISA
Visitors to Myanmar must have a valid passport and obtain a 28-Day Tourist Visa from a Myanmar embassy or diplomatic mission abroad. Two application forms and three passport-size photos will be needed. The fee is approximately US$ 20 in local currency. If traveling on a Diethelm Travel inclusive tour via Bangkok, clients may obtain their visa through the Bangkok office of Diethelm Travel by supplying the following:

  • Actual passport
  • Full name, nationality, sex and occupation of passport holder
  • Three passport photos
  • A fee of US$ 50

For visa procurement in Bangkok allow five working days, longer if national holidays are involved.

The Myanmar government might change visa regulations at short notice; contact Diethelm Travel for the latest information.

Health Requirements:
No vaccinations are officially required for a visit to Myanmar.  Malaria prophylaxis is no longer recommended, but travelers should check with their doctor or a travel immunization clinic regarding the advisability of inoculation against typhoid, hepatitis, tetanus and Japanese encephalitis.
